The Ananda Buddhist Centre is working towards starting a dharma study group, to begin sometime in 2012.
The cost of joining the study group will depend on a number of factors, including how many people participate, and will be determined at the first meeting.
The group will meet once per week at the Ananda Buddhist Centre. Duration of sessions will be approximately two and a half hours. All study materials will be supplied but you may wish to bring along your own pen and paper for taking notes etc.
The proposed course to be studied is the Rongton Buddhist Training College’s ‘Five Year Training Program’. It is a comprehensive program, covering most of the fundamental features of Theravada, Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism. It is concerned with the major Buddhist traditions in Asia, their philosophy, teachings and practices. The course employes a dynamic approach to Buddhist education, combining both traditional and modern teaching and study methods. Click here to view the full Rongton Distance Education Prospectus. The first unit of study will be The Life of the Buddha.
Once we have gathered together a number of interested persons, we will organise a preliminary meeting to discuss a suitable day and time to hold subsequent gatherings and to elect a group coordinator.
The group coordinator will required to lead each group discussion session, liaise with Rongton College administrators, correspond any questions from the group to Course Director Lama Choedak Rinpoche, organise distribution of course materials, gather and process enrolments forms, etc.
If you would like to express your interest in joining this study group, please email us and be sure to include your preferred days and times for holding the sessions.
